A Red Herring Without Mustard (Flavia de Luce Series #3) - Alan Bradley

3.5 out of 5 stars!
I still haven't loved another one of Flavia's books as much as I did the first one, but this one was a definitive improvement over the second one. What I really liked in this book was that for the first time, the author really touches three things that seemed to be overlooked in the first two books: her dead mother and the loss that represents (it was often mentioned, but just on passing, without discussing the repercussions it has in Flavia's life), the fact that she needs a friend, no matter how much she loves being alone, and finally, the need for some parental control...or more than that, the need for her to feel her father's protection, even if it means she can't do everything she wants.
So, in sum, the book wasn't all that spectacular, but I liked it and I love Flavia so I will definitively continue with the series!
