Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #01) - Richelle Mead
I'm using this book for the letter "V" in my Alphabet Soup Reading Challenge :)
Rose and Lissa have escaped St. Vladimir´s Academy for reasons unknown. After being found by a very clever and sexy guard named Dimitri, they are forced to come back to school. Except this is no ordinary school, and they are not ordinary students: Lissa is a vampire Princess and Rose is a Dhampir, her best friend and bodyguard. Now they will have to face the dangers they were escaping, while trying to survive social struggles among their peers.
I can't say I loved this book, mostly because the story was too predictable and the two main characters were a bit exasperating. I know they're teenagers, and teenagers are supposed to be moody and volatile, but it still bothered me. However, what saved the book for me were the male characters, Christian and Dimitri. Very different from each other, one being all order and responsability and the other, chaos and sarcasm, they were both interesting and the heroes of almost every situation the dumb girls got into. I'll continue to read the series just because I need more of those two ;)
